Neon Night Food Tour of Tokyo

Written on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 by neon night food tour

A great way to discover some of Tokyo’s hidden gems is to do this small group tour.
We were a group of eight plus Matt our tour guide, and we set off from a central meeting place in the bustling Shinjuku area.
Matt, being a native American, had lived in Japan for the last 5 years and so was very familiar with Tokyo, the Japanese way of life, and spoke fluent Japanese. He explained to us the origins of the area as we walked through some of the local streets lesser known by most tourists, such as Omoide Yokocho.
With stops along the way, sampling gyoza, crispy chicken and sashimi, washed down with excellent local beers, it was such a treat and all the while feeling like we were just locals going out on a typical Friday night.
An excellent tour to do soon after arriving in Tokyo as it gives you a great insight into the night culture of this amazing city.
