Meet Sylvester The Cheetah at Elephant Camp Vic Falls

Written on Thursday, July 16, 2015 by Sylvester The Cheetah

Being ‘kissed’ on the arm by a lick of the coarse tongue of ‘Sylvester’ the cheetah, is not an experience you might come across in many places in the world. Elephant Camp in Victoria Falls however is just not like any other place! When Sylvester’s mother was tragically shot by poachers, the owners of the camp rescued the orphaned cub and gave him a loving home. Not many of the occupants were aware of the cheetah’s presence in the camp, so imagine our surprise when the owners took him to meet us whilst we enjoyed a round of sundowners out on the deck! Sylvester was friendly, inquisitive and almost as excited to meet us as we were him. His distinctly feline movements, regal and beautiful coat and his deep intelligent eyes were made all the more amazing being able to experience and interact with him up close.
