Skiing in Gulmarg – hiking to the peak 4200m high!

Written on Monday, January 2, 2023 by

Literally breathtaking at 4200m, the lofty summit of Mt Apharwat was not an easy accomplishment. In Gulmarg however, half the fun is undoubtedly ‘earning your turns’ and earn them we did! After catching our breath, we could admire the view of the convergence of the Himalayas and the Karakoram Ranges. The hauntingly beautiful views of the Kashmir Valley in clouds and peaks of endless snowcapped giants reaching for Pakistan was absolutely stunning. With a high level of fitness and skill required, this is certainly not an experience for the fainthearted or under prepared. It is however a chance to ride where the snow leopard roams and immerse yourself in some of the best snow and terrain anywhere in the world. For après why not indulge in a delicious Kashmiri Curry and watch the local ice hockey teams fight for glory on a frozen lake?
