Singapore: Gardens By the Bay

Written on Thursday, January 15, 2015 by
Spanning 101 hectares, this award-winning horticultural attraction is just a five-minute walk from the downtown Marina Bay area. Home to over a quarter of a million rare plants, the Gardens comprises three spaces; Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central, and is best known for its 12 steel Giant Supertrees and 2 cooled dome conservatories: The Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome. This is the perfect place to come for a late afternoon or evening stroll.
Take a self-guided discovery tour (one to four hours in duration) and experience all the must-sees at your own pace. Ride the Garden Cruiser tram for a 25-minute, audio-guided journey around the Bay South garden, passing the cooled conservatories, themed gardens and Dragonfly Lake. Be sure to visit the park one evening for the free nightly light-and-sound display, the Supertrees come alive in an exhilarating display of neon lights.
When you’re feeling peckish, drop in at one of the parks seven casual eateries but if you’re after something special, make a booking at the Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant or the extraordinary Pollen.
Access to the Outdoor Gardens in Bay South is free.
Tickets to the Cooled Conservatories ($28 SGD) and OCBC Skyway ($5 SGD) are available at the Ticket Hub.
