Sensational Sydney

The sprawl of leafy suburbs that is Sydney beckon as I arrive after my 1 hour flight. I am stunned at the beauty of the harbour, the tentacles of sparkling blue waters stretching in each direction, and the glinting Opera House and magnificent bridge to complete the picture – needless to say (but I’ll say it anyway)- Sydney is looking good. After a seamless arrival from the airport to this tourist hub (no taxi for me – just hopped on the train straight to Circular Quay station – a mere 15 mins from the airport) I am ready to eat, drink, and enjoy what Sydney has to offer.

Sydney is a place that I often return to again and again to celebrate birthdays and other fun milestones – either for myself or my friends that live there, and this trip is no exception. On the agenda today is a restaurant with a sea view – Sydney what do you have for me?

Aboard a water taxi, sipping champagne, being whisked across those waters I was in awe of our destination – Watsons Bay. My friends and I have opted for a fabulous restaurant by the name of Doyles on the Beach for delicious seafood matched with a superb white wine – completing the sea view experience I had hoped for.

The water taxi was far livelier on return as we left feeling very jolly from lunch; waving goodbye to folk on the shore as if we were celebrities.

Back in Circular Quay, we take a quick stroll to the Opera Bar which serves not only delicious drinks, but fantastic views of the Opera House, bustling ferries, scattered wharves, the majestic Sydney Harbour Bridge and the tiny specks of adventurers on the climb – cheers to that!

Our accommodation is The Sebel Quay West Suites which offer very spacious apartments – located in the corner of Circular Quay, and a short stroll to the historical ‘Rocks’ area; with its wonderful markets where tourists and locals can browse looking for special Sydney mementos. Quay West Suites have an incredible view over the harbour, and as we watched the sun set, the twinkling lights of the city created a whole new atmosphere in the evening.

Looking back on this trip – Sydney did not disappoint, there is always a captivating view to be seen, a mouth-watering restaurant to try, and many bars that need to be visited… Ahh Sydney – ‘The Emerald City’- how can this be matched?
