Cruising the Duoro Valley with Wine Tasting, Portugese style

We spent 3 nights in the Duoro Valley staying in a remote hotel, Scala Duoro, with beautiful views across the valley covered in vineyards.  The hotel itself was an experience and a wonderful place to relax.  You need your own car or day trips arranged as it is quite a distance from the nearest main town.  The highlight was our full day cruise on the Duoro River in our private yacht with our own skipper, wine tasting and Bonfin Wines and a delicious lunch on board.  We also enjoyed a winery walk with a local viticulturist learning about the techniques and enjoying the stunning views. We visited Sandeman Winery for a tour of the cellar and yet another tasting!  Highlight was a private picnic in the vineyard with our own private area and beautiful vistas, delicious food and local wines.  This could be a very romantic thing to include for the right couple.  It was great fun with a group of girls too!
