Hotel B – Experience Boho in Lima, Peru

Written on Monday, February 4, 2019 by Experience Boho in Lima at Hotel B

In the quirky neighbourhood of Barranco in Lima I stayed in the delightful Hotel B, which is a member of the exclusive Relais & Chateaux luxury hotel range. The neighbourhood itself has a strong Bohemian vibe with the coolest bars and restaurants and outstanding galleries. Right across the road from Hotel B is Lucia de la Puente Gallery which is a progressive gallery showcasing young Peruvian artists’ works.  The contemporary exhibits are wonderful and really capture the essence of Peru. We enjoyed wandering through the gallery admiring the art and purchased some locally made earrings which were the perfect memoir from Peru. For something special you can have a private dinner in the gallery, catered by the Hotel B chefs.  The neighbourhood is oozing with art and Hotel B is almost a gallery itself, featuring wall upon wall of art by local talented artists. The hotel is housed in a stylishly renovated historical colonial building.

The minute we arrived at the hotel, greeted with a chilled glass of bubbles, we were transformed to a world of make believe.  In this world there are edgy sculptures, funky paintings, doormen who look like they are part of the Secret Service, an exquisite library where we enjoyed a typically English High Tea served on fine bone china crockery and silver cutlery.  To compete the scene there is a contemporary rooftop bar where you can enjoy the views through the haze which constantly hangs over Lima, from your private pergola.  I enjoyed the luxury of a suite which was divine with marble bathroom and separate tub to sink into, courtyard outlook and a king bed and antique furniture.

The highlight for me was the private Cocktail Masterclass which took place in the Hotels’ Bar and hosted by Alex, chief barman.  What a wonderful experience.  Of course, we learnt how to make the local iconic drink, the Pisco Sour, along with two other cocktails.  On completion of each cocktail we were presented with an accompanying dish from the kitchen.  This really was a decadent experience and one I’ll never forget!  Lima has so much to offer and is a culinary capital and Hotel B is the perfect place to immerse yourself in Peruvian culture, the historical and the modern, in a most luxurious and unique way.
